About Wambooka USA
Who We Are
We started with a simple frustration.
Walk into any music store in the world and the pick selection looks the same. A pegboard. A hundred variations of the same injection-molded plastic in slightly different thicknesses and slightly different colors, made by the same handful of companies, from the same petrochemical compounds, designed to appeal to everyone and therefore to no one in particular.
For an instrument as personal as the guitar — an instrument that players spend thousands of dollars and decades of their lives perfecting — the pick had been left behind. The last piece of the puzzle, treated as disposable. An afterthought wrapped in cellophane and sold for less than a cup of coffee.
We thought that was wrong.
What We Believe
We believe the pick is not an afterthought. It is the first thing that happens — the precise point where intention becomes sound, where the decision to play a note becomes the note itself. Everything upstream of that moment — the wood in the body, the wire in the pickup, the tubes in the amp — is working toward that single point of contact.
That point deserves better than plastic.
We believe that the material a pick is made from changes the way it plays, the way it sounds, and the way it feels in the hand. Not subtly. Materially. A bone pick does not sound like a horn pick. A stone pick does not feel like a wood pick. These are not marketing distinctions. They are physical realities that every player who has tried our picks notices within the first few strokes.
We believe that the best tools have stories worth telling — and that a player who understands what they are holding plays differently than one who doesn't. There is something that happens when you know the pick in your hand was worn by Egyptian pharaohs, or formed over a hundred million years in volcanic rock, or cut from the bones of an animal sacred to an entire island culture. It connects you to something larger than the song you are playing. That connection is real, and it matters.
What We Do
We source extraordinary natural materials from Madagascar and beyond — stone, horn, bone, wood, shell — and we shape them into guitar picks with the precision and care that serious players deserve.
Every material we work with is chosen for three reasons: it has to play differently and better than plastic, it has to have a genuine story behind it, and it has to be sourced responsibly. We do not use materials that cannot meet all three criteria. We do not cut corners on finishing. We do not make picks we would not want to play ourselves.
We offer our picks in multiple profiles — Classic flat, Semi-Flat with a single-sided contour, and Dual Grip with contours on both faces — because different players need different tools, and the same player needs different tools at different moments. We design for the player who has strong opinions about their sound, who experiments deliberately, and who understands that the smallest details in a signal chain are sometimes the most important ones.
Who We Are For
We are for the player who has spent years dialing in their tone and knows there is always more to discover. For the studio musician who reaches for a different pick the way a painter reaches for a different brush. For the performer who wants something in their hand that is as considered and individual as the music they make.
We are for the player who picks up one of our picks for the first time, plays a single chord, and immediately needs to know what it is made of.
We are for the guitarist who is done with plastic.
Nativo. Extraordinary picks from extraordinary materials. Made for musicians who listen closely.
